COHESION to launch Eczema Animation

Eczema Animation

The Design team have been working on an animation to showcase the problem of eczema amongst young people. Prior to the launch of COHESION Medical, our CEO Euan Cameron focused on software applications for skin conditions. For example, in 2002 a software application called MELACAL® was developed for the medical diagnosis of melanoma skin cancers. This software was licenced to a leading UK health screening service and is used by Specialist Clinic Nurses and private health providers.

Years later, a software application, PSORIACAL® was developed for the medical diagnosis, treatment and management of psoriasis conditions. The software is now fully developed and is a powerful and scalable system used by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde for the clinical management of over 1000 patients.

More recently, our interests lie with atopic eczema. Eczema is a condition which makes the skin itchy, red, dry, cracked and very painful. It can affect people of any age; however, it affects 1 in 5 young people and 1 in 12 adults with 6 million people affected in the UK. This underlines the severity of the problem and COHESION is attempting to raise awareness but also provide a solution for people living with inflammatory conditions like this.

COHESION provides a self- management app to ensure people with eczema feel more in control of their condition, better informed and most importantly, empowered. The app allows people of all ages to outline when their condition improves or when they encounter flare ups. The app has a variety of other features such as reminders to apply treatment creams and an option to outline any intolerances or allergies that could have a negative impact on their eczema. The app is designed to be as interactive as possible and allows users to pinpoint areas of the body where they are most affected.

COHESION's animation about young people living with eczema and the problems it can cause will be launched on our social media pages very soon! Check out our Facebook page @COHESIONMedical and our Twitter feed @cohesionnews for more updates.
